How to deal with anxiety and depression ?

The outburst of Covid -19 has left everybody stressed and upset. It is absolutely fine to feel sad, anxious or even depressed because it makes you alive. But, you will completely miss the nectar of life for those minutes or hours, for which you feel sad.


In Vedic astrology, the moon rules our emotions and deals with anxiety and depression. A person who is blessed with a strong moon in his birth chart is often cheerful and thinks from heart rather than mind. So, to remove stress and anxiety from our lives, we need to appease the moon and the lord of the moon, i. e. SHIVA. Let's see how...





The month of Shravan is very dear to lord Shiva. Prayers done during this month have multiple times effects. Lord shiva has moon on his head , which means only he can help you control your emotions like he did his through meditation or Dhyan.


To take control of your emotional consciousness, you need to add this routine in your lifestyle :


1. Try to meditate / do deep breathing exercises for atleast 15-20 minutes, early morning.


2. Chant 'Om Namah Shivay' 108 times daily. It is not mandatory to offer water to shivling in Shravan month as Shiva resides in every being. Don't risk your or anybody else's life for the sake of visiting temples. (Chant Mahamrityunjay mantra 108 times if you miss the temple - it will give the same satisfaction to you).


3. Don't drink milk at night, because in this season (monsoon), it will not be easily digested and will cause unnecessary problems.


4. Communicate with your family and friends via social media, video calls or phone calls. This will help in reducing anxiety levels.


5. Try to read more books. It will help you gain knowledge and occupy the mind with useful information, leaving less space for stress.


6. A little exercise or a walk has never harmed anyone. Also, it is scientifically proven that walking reduces stress.


7. Make a journal / diary in which you can write all your thoughts. Every thought you create has energy , so think cautiously .


8. Invest time in your hobby or learn something new in this time. Anyway there are restrictions to go out due to the virus ,then why not stay home & increase the mind's productivity?


9. Spend more time with nature, like you can water the plants or feed the animals. It will develop your compassion towards other beings and give you the motivation to live.


10. Help your mother in the household chores. Not many people know that a weak moon may cause illness to your mother. Also, the moon represents the mother, whose unconditional love can help in overcoming any situation. This is the opportunity for you to help her and get her blessings.




Though, we say anxiety and stress happen due to eating habits or some medications but these little changes in your lifestyle can bring big results.
